Original Rabbit Cage
Overview
This was the original cage I built when we got our pet rabbit. Probably not the best idea to mimic, since there alot of rabbit unfriendly problems with this design.
Materials
*Note: Links are just for illustration the parts are alot easier and cheaper to find at a home improvement store*- 3'x4' Oak Board
- Rabbit fencing
- Fence staples
- Eye screws
- Thumb screws
Tools used
- Hammer
- Pliers
- Steel file
Construction
Really straight forward, simply cut of two lengths of fence roughly 2'x3+'(For a height of around 2' when it's done). There should be some thin wire that comes with the fencing, attach the 2 pieces together with this wire. Then hammer it into the sides using the fencing staples. Cut and attach side parts as well to finish it off, and you should have a completely enclosed space. To make the doors cut a square of wire the size you want then cut out the space in the enclosure. Make a hinge with wire or cable ties and finally use the eye screws and thumbscrews as a peg system to hold the doors closed(IE An eye screw above and below where the fencing comes down to the side, and a thumb screw in those 2 to hold it in). File down anything sharp, and that's it.

Issues
- Rabbits don't like hardwood, and it got ruined quickly from the water bottle dripping and before the rabbit was litter trained. Would have much better to have place cheap carpeting down
- Waterbottles stink in general for rabbits, they have a hard time drinking out of them. A small ceramic dish works much better
- The fencing staples were very hard to use, I'd recommend using a staple gun if you can
- It needs runners, rabbits love to toss things out of their cages, and there will be hay and all sorts of mess if it is completely open along the bottom.
- Also not a design flaw, but I don't believe it cages any more except travel(Which this one is too big for), a simple pen is much easier to construct(Will post details later), and gives your pet more space.
